This is my first Blackberry - first I-phone in fact - and I like the way it fits, how the keyboard slides down and the attachments work. No problem for this novice.
StarStarStarStarStar Exceeds expectations
User: Trevor Hedrick, Dec 30, 2010

Pros:  Double casings
Cons:  Slight gap in between slider

This case is everything I have ever wanted for my phone. I recently was using a plastic case that had no padding or interior protection. After accidentally dropping the phone and seeing a small chip on the top lock key, I decided to invest a little more than cheap plastic. This product has been wonderful. Although a touch on the pricey side, its definitely worth it!
StarStarStarStarStar Great Case!!
User: gil gastelum, Dec 28, 2010

Pros:  everything except for two!!
Cons:  the jack is tight and sumoetimes casuses the headset to be pushed out and also the camera button sometimes doesnt work

i personally love this case!!!!! feels nice in the hand and not to bulky, feels protected and fits great in pocket, although the 3.5mm jack is kinda close to the case and causes to push the headset out and the camera button cover for some reason doesnt always work right away, it takes a few pushes to turn camera on and take a picture, but overall great case, a must buy!
StarStarStarStarStar the best case for the torch!
User: Kwame Jr, Dec 17, 2010
The case is wonderful. At first I bought a 5 dollar case, of course it was entirely plastic, and it broke only after 2 days of using it mean while the phone has never been dropped. I then went and bout otterbox at the mall near me and since then I have never felt more secure.
StarStarStarStarStar I love it!!
User: Nycole Bohannon, Dec 11, 2010

Pros:  protects and does everything it says it will
Cons:  a little bulky but all keys are easily accessible TOO EXPENSIVE

I think its a great item. It protects and I feel like if I drop my phone, I wont have to worry about it falling out the case and cracking. This is a great torch protector
StarStarStarStarStar Good fit
User: Cheryl Campbell, Dec 11, 2010

Pros:  Slim, tight fit on the Torch, low profile
Cons:  -

I had an Otterbox for my last Blackberry and loved it. The one for the Torch is wonderful as well. Nice, slim fit. Still fits in my pocket. Good quality

The Otterbox Commuter Series Case is everything you could ask for in a case. Its not bulky, slides perfectly in and out of your pocket. Just a perfect protective case.
StarStarStarStarStar Otter Box Case - Blk/Pink
User: Angi Hyre, Aug 18, 2010

Pros:  Sleek, secure fit, comfortable hold, no interference in movement of slider
Cons:  Slider cover pops off easily, have to push quite hard on the camera convenience key to activate camera.

I love the case. I would definatey recommend it. Aesthetically it is very attractive and the smooth, sleek surface feels good.
StarStarStarStarStar MUST BUY!!! Full protection!
User: Joshua Litton, Aug 18, 2010

Pros:  Protection, Durability, Ability to remove for cleaning..
Cons:  NONE!!

This Otterbox Commuter Series case for the 9800 is amazing! I walked into the store looking for a case for my new 9800 and walked out completely satisfied! Full protecting with no fear! Absolutely no problem on the device and its sliding mechanism.. Not only is it perfect for the 9800, but it is easy to remove for cleaning purposes!

Go with the 9800! You wont be disappointed!!!

I love my Otter box case kinda expensive but worth it =) its protection is great & you get a year warrenty with AT&T if you get it through them
StarStarStarStarStar Excellent case
User: Eric Schmidt, Aug 16, 2010

Pros:  tight fit, great grip, doesnt impede slide
Cons:  usb cover tends to flip open

Tried this in ATT store along with two different brands. This was head and shoulders above the others.
StarStarStarStarStar best case for people who beat up their phones
User: Jeff H., Aug 14, 2010

Pros:  tough
Cons:  adds a bit of bulk, but not too bad

Ive had otterboxes for my other phones, so grabbing this for the Torch was a no brainer. Highly recommend.

StarStarStarStarStar Strong case
User: Robert G, Mar 5, 2012

Pros:  Sturdy, very strong
Cons:  Top portion is weak

While this is a good case, it seems that that top portion of the case is pretty weak. My case managed to last several months, then the top portion of the case broke. Pretty disappointed. Hell, at least the rest is still intact.
StarStarStarStarStar great but..
User: robert elkins, Jan 23, 2012

Pros:  nice look. great protection.
Cons:  like most torch cases. the top piece comes off easy.

this case is truly awesome. i dropped it like 2 times on concrete and 3 times on carpet. the 5th time tho the top part came off and the little part that hold the top piece on cracked. it still goes on pretty well but im afraid to drop it now lol. but all in all id recommend this case.
StarStarStarStarStar Best Option
User: Rob Stollmer, Aug 8, 2011

Pros:  Looks good, and does the job
Cons:  Top piece is kinda flimsy.

I really like this case and would recommend to everyone with a torch. I dropped my phone from about 3 feet onto a concrete floor and it did its job, protected my phone, other than the top piece cracked into and fell off. I was able to super glue it together, and it worked fine. I shot out an email to otterbox explaining what had happened, wanting to know if I could buy a new top piece. Got an email the next day, thanking me for contacting them, and that they were shipping me out a new case. I got it in 5 days.
StarStarStarStarStar Its ok
User: William Johnston, Jun 6, 2011

Pros:  Does what its supposed to, however..
Cons:  Its too slick. I feel like its going to slip out of my hands.

I wouldnt rave about it, but it seems ok. The silicon cover over the USB jack doesnt hold in place very well and I have to push down on the camera button a little harder. Its over-priced too. It is just plastic after all.
StarStarStarStarStar Commuter Series is Serious Business
User: Charlotte Bileau, Jan 14, 2011
A nice product for users that either work outside where their phone takes a beating. This case definitely fits the device well and gives it the best protection from users: dropping the device on hard surfaces, wetness, and being tossed around inside of a backpack, or any type of bag. The case also comes with its own screen protector. The only down side to this product is that it adds alot of bulkiness to the device - a real lot. But if you are a user that has your device break often, this case is for you.
StarStarStarStarStar highly recommend it
User: Louis Belcaro, Jan 5, 2011

Pros:  hugs like a glove, best shell yet
Cons:  difficult to find a holster to fit in

its a grest fit, need to make a holster to go with it
StarStarStarStarStar otterbox for torch
User: kerry bertsch, Dec 30, 2010

Pros:  best case to protect this style phone
Cons:  did not come with screen protector, make phone bulky and noticebly heavier

good case if you drop your phone. makes it difficult to use some slip on covers or cases since it increases the size.
StarStarStarStarStar Good but..
User: Damon Rice, Dec 5, 2010

Pros:  good quality
Cons:  back part of case is a little to much of exact fit (causes sensitivity of lock button at top of phone)

Pretty solid case. I used the Otter Box gel case for my previous Bold 9700 and loved it. I only wish they would have done the same for the Torch. I prefer a softer case for impact purposes and less pressure on device buttons (device lock on top left of phone). Good quality and like the fact that you can follow step-by-step installation guide at http://www.otterbox.com/BlackBerry-Torch-Commuter-Series-Case
StarStarStarStarStar Well satisfied
User: MMB B, Oct 11, 2010
My one complaint is the piece on the slider occassionally pops off if dropped. Other than that, my phone seems well protected!
StarStarStarStarStar Great Case BUTTT
User: Joe C, Sep 10, 2010

Pros:  Style, Strength
Cons:  Crackberry.com doesnt give you the screen protector

I gave this case 4 stars souly on the fact that Otterbox really put out a great case for this type of Blackberry. I swear on Otterbox!! The reason it only got the 4 and not the 5 stars is because the one time I brought a Otterbox case from Crackberry.com they cut the order short with no screen protector.
StarStarStarStarStar Just Purchased/Screen Protector Issue Answered
User: David H, Sep 2, 2010

Pros:  Great Protection, Must Have
Cons:  AT&T Removing Essential Part Of Case On Purpose

Just purchased this case today and so far I do seem to like it. I searched all over and no one had it in stock including the screen protector it is supposed to include per the companys description. Everyone I talked to about this seem baffled and said it would only be included when a defender series case is released. This is not the case, I called Otterbox today and they advised that AT&T requested them not include it with their shipments to them and that when Otterbox sells the case online itself they will include a screen protector. The reason it is missing it is because AT&T is trying to push sales of their extremely overpriced screen protectors in addition to a 40.00 case. This is rediculious since we are paying for it and its not included. Im sure the protector costs maybe 2 cents to produce but AT&T is trying to push another 20.00 accessory for a 2 cent part. I did get AT&T (Not a Corporate Store) to give me a free generic screen proctector when I bought my Otterbox and suggest you demand the same as an informed consumer. Great case though and Otterbox customer service is fantastic and straight to the point. Ive had their cases for many phones in the past and if ever a part breaks a free replacement is sent at no cost with no questions asked which is awesome!
StarStarStarStarStar Great Protection
User: Dan Boon, Aug 31, 2010

Pros:  Protection, doesnt impede slide, not too bulky
Cons:  Does not include protective screen film.

Overall a GREAT protective case without adding much bulk. The only reason it didnt get 5 stars is that it does not include a protective screen film.
StarStarStarStarStar Screen protector
User: Jay Delapaz, Aug 29, 2010

Pros:  good overall
Cons:  -

Hey I love this case!! Just checked out the Otterbox website and this case is supposed to include a screen protector which i didnt receive! Anyone else?
StarStarStarStarStar Tested tough
User: Brendan B, Aug 23, 2010
A decent-looking case that offers plenty of protection. I should know. Accidentally dropped my phone on concrete the same night I got the case. The piece that protects the slider and screen popped right off (a little scary), but the phone was completely undamaged. Coming from Otterbox I would have hoped it would not pop off so easily. Loses some points for that.

As heavy as the Torch is, youll want a case of some kind if you even think you might ever drop it. Might as well get the one that offers the best protection. It also doesnt look nearly as enormous and ugly as other Otterboxes I have seen, so thats a plus. Makes the phone look tough and manly without looking like a deformed pocket monster.

I will say that I think that this case makes the phone a little easier to drop, since you trade the nicely rubberized backing of the Torch for the smooth plastic (and more awkward size) of the case. Once you get used to it this shouldnt make too much of a difference, unless youre a real klutz.

Overall: Tough, without being Uglysaurus. A good buy.
StarStarStarStarStar Awesome case when the front part dont pop off
User: rob clum, Aug 22, 2010
Pro: very solid feeling and not to bulky.

Con: Front piece start to get loose and fall off ever once and awhile.

Really liked the case!! except for when the front piece start to get loose and pop off. it started popping off about 4 hours after i put the case on. other than that the back piece is solid. if they fix the front case piece i would have to get it 5 out 5 but for this reason Im giving it a 4 out of 5.
StarStarStarStarStar Good first try for a slider otterbox but needs to be redesigned
User: Joshua Hamel, Aug 17, 2010

Pros:  Back fits great with not too much bulk
Cons:  Top does not fit securely, plastic is very slick

This is a great first try for a sliding otterbox except for a few minor problems. The top part does not fit securely at all and comes off as im putting my phone into my pocket, also the plastic is so slick it slips out of my grasp while im holding it with one hand.
StarStarStarStarStar I wanted to like it
User: Amanda L, Feb 23, 2012
I really did want to like this case. I loved how it fit on my phone and liked the pink and black color. It fell off my night stand onto carpet and the front part that goes around the slider broke. How can I expect it to protect my phone if it falls on something harder? Looking for something thats more durable.
StarStarStarStarStar Its the best horrible case ive owned
User: D S, Aug 28, 2011

Pros:  Full Body Protection - My 9800 looks brand new
Cons:  Slider cover is of the lowest quality - breaks often

I purchased this case in September of 2010, after I purchased the 9800. Within two weeks the top cover snapped off. I prepared my story and headed to AT&T where they replaced it with no problem. Two weeks later (just over 30 days) after purchase, it broke again. Again, back to AT&T. They replaced it under the year warranty. Ive had no less than 8 replacements since. Including one last week. My original $39 investment has yielded me new case after new case. I dont know what I am going to do when they stop replacing them.
StarStarStarStarStar Terrible
User: Shane Turnbeaugh, Aug 17, 2011
Ive purchased two of these and both of them the top portion of the case has cracked. Total waste of money. I had much higher hopes given their performance with iPhones. Guess they should have stuck to making cases for those and not blackberry.
StarStarStarStarStar OTTERBOX EXPERIENCES
User: CJ FIELDS, Jul 5, 2011

Pros:  VERY SLEEK AND ATTRACTIVE LOOK, STYLISH
Cons:  EASILY BROKEN

I AMPO

ON MY 4TH OTTERBOX FOR MY TORCH. THE TOP CASING ALWAYS BREAKS WHEN THE PHONE IS DROPPED. I DROPPED IT ON THE CARPETED FLOOR AND IT STILL BROKE. WELL OFF TO THE STORE TO GET ANOTHER ONE. ALSO IF YOUR EARPLUG DOESNT FIT CORRECTLY IN THE AUX JACK IT WILL CRACK...THE BEST THING ABOUT THE OTTERBOX CASE IS THAT IT HAS A ONE YEAR WARRANTY WITH NO QUESTIONS ASKED. I LOVE THE CASE JUST HATE THAT IT BREAKS EASILY...
StarStarStarStarStar broke
User: chris m, Jul 1, 2011

Pros:  takes good dropping
Cons:  will break down

first the back corner by the mute call button chipped off and broke, then the front cover was not able to clip back after a drop. lasted me less than a year. now looking for something different.
StarStarStarStarStar mixed feelings
User: Denise T, Jun 8, 2011

Pros:  great case over-all
Cons:  top cover has broken 2x

Over all I really love this case. It has saved my torch from a couple of disasters. My only complaint is that I have already had to replace the top cover once because the very thin piece of plastic that hooks at the top of the slider broke. The new cover lasted about 4 months and has now met its demise as well. And again it was the thin pice that hooks over the top of the slider that broke away. They certainly lasted longer that other cheaper cases I bought, but it is still a bit frustrating. Would be really nice if there was a way to make it just a bit stronger if at all possible.
StarStarStarStarStar Worn Case after 2 mo.
User: Sarah Williams, Feb 9, 2011
This case and I have been through alot. I am not the gentlest on my phones, I will admit, but It took about a week for the top layer (over the screen) to break. I thought it was just me being too rough on the phone but I have two other friends with the same phone and case, and all of us just use the part around the body. The body has a large crack angling down the side, and it looks like I need to invest in a new brand and case.
Again, I am not extremely cautious with my phone, but for the size of the case and reputation of it, I expected it to last through at least a year. I might as well get something less bulky that provides as much protection.
StarStarStarStarStar Blackberry Torch Otter Commuter Case
User: Britt Jones, Jan 4, 2011

Pros:  Ease of Installation Ease of Function Good Grip
Cons:  No matter how much I cleaned the screen with the enclosed cloth two dust particles remained First drop from a sitting position approximately 1.5 feet from the floor, the front cover came off, however, the phone did not seem to sustain any noticable damage

Product could be more durable using G10 or similar material. A self lubricating O-ring or gasket between the base and the slide would enable this product to be water resistant or possibly waterproof.

Enclosed screen cleaning cloth should be impregnated with some type of cleaner that is better at removing fingerprints and collecting dust. The cloth would need to be stored in a cellophane bag so it would not dry out prior to use.

Overall I am somewhat satisfied with the product. See Pros and Cons above for more info.
StarStarStarStarStar Puts phone to sleep after a minute or two
User: Dennis Colligan, Dec 29, 2010

Pros:  Good protection
Cons:  Bulky and causes the phone to lock up

Otter puts out great cases. But this one has me very confused. It seems to put the phone in an unrecognized state of sleep. I have to do a battery pull to get it working again. The case seems to fit perfectly and all buttons are clear. Its a mystery but clearly niot usable for me.
StarStarStarStarStar Top Part is No Good
User: Dina Schuman, Dec 28, 2010

Pros:  Bottom part protects phone well
Cons:  Top Part breaks easily & wont stay on phone

I have been through 3 covers because the top part keeps breaking. The first one broke only 2 weeks after buying it. The little plastic strip that holds the front part on is very thin. I use my slidder a lot & I guess it puts pressure on the piece because it broke without being taken off or dropped. I took it back to the retailer & they exchanged the front part for free. 2 weeks later I dropped the phone & the front popped off. When I put it back on, I noticed the plastic strip had a crack in it. It wouldnt stay on after that. It would pop off when i would slide the phone open. I took it back to the store & again they exchanged it for free. About a month later not realizing that I had my phone in my lap I stood up & it fell on the concrete floor. This time the top part broke across the front & wouldnt stay on at all. Tired of running back to the store (the nearest retailer is 35 miles away), I super glued the plastic back togther. I know I voided warranty by doing this but if it breaks again, I am getting something different for the front. Ottor Box needs to work on the front piece to make it more durable. Not sure what they can do but something definately needs to be done. The back part offers great protection & I have had NO propblems with it.
StarStarStarStarStar I gave it a 3 star because I couldnt give it a 2.5
User: Johnny Jack, Dec 20, 2010

Pros:  Nice design, Durable back case
Cons:  Top case WILL BREAK on you

So I went through 2 Otterbox cases and gave it some serious thought about ordering the 3rd.

The top of the slider case is essentially designed for 1 good drop. Otherwise simply by using it the top case will break because the edge of the case is sharp and once chipped will no longer fit on your Torch.

The back case is just awesome because its lined with a rubber sleeve with a hard shell on the outside.

This time since I now have 2 of the back cases, i ordered a full mobi case for it since Ive heard great things about the top case never breaking.

My attempt is to use a combo of both cases and the first thing I noticed about the mobi top case is that it didnt have any sharpness that would eventually chip away.

I think this is the only route. Otterbox tried but they really need to redesign the top case.

I swear, it WILL BREAK on you.

I havent dropped my phone once and two of them broke.
StarStarStarStarStar Saved the Torch, but broke with second drop
User: Longtime BB User, Dec 14, 2010

Pros:  Protected my Torch during fall
Cons:  Front piece pops off easily. Case broke in a weak area after 2 drops.

Nice looking case. Easy to put on. Covering causes mute button to stick. The cover on the slideable top piece falls off frequently. The main case broke after the second fall. Great idea, but Otterbox needs to improve the design.
StarStarStarStarStar Worthy Purchase
User: Camille H, Nov 26, 2010
I would have ranked this higher than 3 stars but this is my second case. My first one came with no screen protector and the bottom portion (near the headphone jack) snapped during a fall and thereby rendered the top half of the case useless. My 2nd one arrived with the screen protector and were back in business. It has already withheld my 2 yr old goddaughter dropping it twice. It is a solid purchase and looks good on the phone
StarStarStarStarStar Ehh
User: Kevin E., Nov 10, 2010

Pros:  Lots of protection makes phone easier to grip and therefore decreases probability of a drop
Cons:  the thin little front cover seems poorly fitted and creaks when you press down on it to slide the phone open

not worth the full price at this point, but ive heard you can email otterbox and usually they send a replacement.
StarStarStarStarStar Not a Great Case
User: Dianna McCall, Nov 6, 2010
Back part of case is great, front part pops off and the flap that holds it on is thin and breaks off. I am on my second case, not impressed.
StarStarStarStarStar Below Standard
User: Jeff Roberts, Sep 18, 2010
The larger back portion works great. It stays in place and provides awesome protection. However, the protective frame for the sliding portion of the phone is borderline functional. The sales rep took the Otterbox commuter case straight from the box and put it on my wifes brand new out of the box Torch and it would not stay on. She opened a second Otterbox case and it fit. 28 days later and I am standing in line at the local AT&T store to exchange the case. Same problem, the frame for the slide will not stay on. It is going to get old having to exchange the Otterbox commuter case every month. At least I have a one year warranty. After that who knows..
StarStarStarStarStar Nice Case with flaws
User: Lisa P, Aug 30, 2010

Pros:  nice looking sturdy
Cons:  slick and front pops off

I bought this case to protect my torch, but as soon as it falls the front piece falls off and your phone is left unprotected. The sides could use more grip so it isnt so slick. Overall I think if you want total protection you need to find another case.
StarStarStarStarStar 2 pieces: Great Back Sup Par Front
User: Rho J, Aug 20, 2010

Pros:  Back piece gives great protection.
Cons:  Front piece., not so much.

First time with otterbox, but Ive seen their products for other phones so I know the quality. Maybe in a rush to get something out for the Torch they didnt think the front piece through. It snaps on and while I havent had a problem with it coming off like a few have mentioned, it gives NO protection if you drop the phone (as opposed to the back). I didnt even drop mine, but in applying it i snapped towards the bottom. The front piece is fragile and Id expect more from a $40 msrp case. Big fan of otterbox, but they need to do something about the front piece so that its not only durable but will protect in the case of a fall.
StarStarStarStarStar dont drop it!
User: sarah araujo, Aug 17, 2010
awesome case & all but i accidentally dropped my phone a few days ago & it all came apart..torch was scratched & all! ultimately i exchanged the phone for sound issues but still rockin the commuter case with the scratches on it.
StarStarStarStarStar Could be Better!
User: S M, Aug 17, 2010

Pros:  Fits Great, no problem with the slide.
Cons:  Could us more grip on it and causes phone to unlock easy.

It protects great like it should. It needs more of a grip on it seems slick and make hitting the unlock button to easy. You just bump the phone and it will unlock. This is as much a problem with the phone as it is the case, unlock button is in a bad place.
StarStarStarStarStar If Only
User: Rachel Moss, Apr 10, 2012

Pros:  protects bulk of phone well
Cons:  faceplate piece breaks incredibly easily

Ive had to replace the frail faceplate cover four times in the few months Ive had my blackberry torch 9800. It is as if breathing on it too hard could break it. It is held on the front of the phone with a tiny sliver of plastic that breaks if it hits anything too hard. Ive broken it dropping it a few inches on to a pillow-top mattress before. Its a shame because I like how well my phone seems to be protected by it, but I am so frustrated with replacing the slider piece that I wont be doing it again. Moving to a new case brand now.
StarStarStarStarStar Works great unless you drop it
User: Linda Clark, Feb 18, 2012

Pros:  good back case
Cons:  replaced 3 times

I have replaced this case 3 times so it is time to try a different type of case for my Blackberry. The back part of the case is great but the front part has broken all 3 times. It is too loose and flimsey.
StarStarStarStarStar OtterBox..what were you thinking???
User: Jason Kerr, Aug 27, 2011

Pros:  Covers to protect USB and aux ports
Cons:  Easy to fracture & break. Inner cover attracts dirt.

Ive had my OtterBox case for about six months. The OB cases for the iPhone are great, but the one for the Torch has been disappointing. The outer shell is thin and fragile. Four pieces of it have broken off just due to general use..not falls or impacts..not counting the flimsy top cover. The rubber inner cover is a dirt magnet (cleaning with cloth & rubbing alcohol monthly is a MUST). However, the covers for the USB port and aux plug are great..and only offered on the OB, IIRC.

I wish OB would take a hard look at its design for the iPhone and at OBs competitors (esp. Body Gloves) designs. OB has a lot of room for improvement with this case design..
StarStarStarStarStar not worth it for the long haul
User: lori falcon, Aug 5, 2011
great fit, tough, but not tough enough, the piece that covers the front slider screen has a whimpy tab to hold it on at the top and it broke after about 6 months of use. so yes it will not withstand long life if it is dropped very often.
StarStarStarStarStar Not Happy With Case
User: Carl Wells, Jul 19, 2011

Pros:  -
Cons:  Breaks to easily

I have had two Commuter Series cases now and both of the snap on protector for the slider on my 9800 have broken. Each time in the same place so that it will not snap back on. I have a co-worker that has a 9800 as well and she is having the same issue with hers breaking and not staying on the slider.
StarStarStarStarStar Great protection on the back - not so much on the front slider
User: Dana Wade, May 23, 2011
Im on my 3rd replacement of the Commuter Series. The case is not cumbersome. The back fits snuggly. However, the front slider cover does not stay on. 2 of the front sliders have broken when the phone slipped off my lap and fell on the carpet. Im concerned that the front piece doesnt have enough strength to withstand an 18" drop on to a carpetted area. OtterBox customer service has been great but I dont want to email them anymore and will look at other options.
StarStarStarStarStar Does not meet Otter expectation!
User: Arnette Hawkins, Mar 29, 2011
Had a very difficult time with this. I eventually had to cut off the rubber part because it was causing the phones lock pad to malfunction. Looks funny but it worked..and THEN I dropped it!! The front slider case broke and now will not stay on my scratched Torch. Im very disappointed in view of the Otter reputation for quality. It lasted about TWO months!
StarStarStarStarStar Only two days of use!!!! :-(
User: ray ray, Mar 17, 2011
First of all I am a diehard fan of Otterbox. I had it on my Iphone for almost 4 years and have dropped it while riding my motorcycle down the street on numerous occasions and always held up well and never broke my phone.

Now....
I just bought the Torch and this case on Monday from the AT&T Store, In 2 days it broke. I havent dropped it or even been rough with it. When Its not in use its either in my pocket or on the charger. But for some reason the top sliding part broke. It was probably due to the design of the torch but none the less, it only lasted 2 days.
StarStarStarStarStar NOT HAPPY
User: Some One, Mar 8, 2011
Wow, im so surprised to see other ppl have had the same issues. Paid 40 bucks for this thing and within days, the top broke up when I was simply taking the phone out of my pocket!

Whats worse is that it always causes the phone to freeze. Ive realized its tight and pushes down on the lock screen button but then itll just completely freeze sometimes.

I sent my phone in for repairs thinking the phone has problems.

Ive had the Torch for a lil over 2 mnths and wow, never have I had so many issues with a cell. Even my old Blackberry worked way better than the Torch and its useless accessories.
StarStarStarStarStar Unhappy with it

I had this case possibly 3 weeks and the front case broke. My phone fell off my nightstand and landed on carpet and it broke. I would expect this if possibly it fell on concrete, but carpet? A case is supposed to protect your phone AND last.
StarStarStarStarStar creaking sound, scratch the bottom bezel!!
User: michael robert, Jan 13, 2011

Pros:  sturdy back protector, no screen protector
Cons:  top cover easily pops off, creaking sounds

I had this one in hurry after buying the torch in Jakarta, attracted with Otterbox reputation, bought it and tried it right away. After 2 weeks of use, the top cover pops when i drop my phone on the carpet (+/- 5 cm high), lucky the phone was not damaged or scratched but when i put it on again, the top cover creaked whenever call or trackpad buttons were pressed.
Now im planning to replace it with another brand (still looking though), it was enough for me when i realized on week 3, the bottom bezel got scratches. i suspect the top lid as the root cause for this problem.

Its up to you to buy this stuff or not. i had enough and feel very dissapointed after 3 weeks of usage.
StarStarStarStarStar junk
User: shaun stewart, Jan 8, 2011
I liked the case but I had a pink and black one because it was the only one I could get at the time ! Then I got an l back one and now the top trim wont stay on and no one will fix it or do anything for me and Ive never dropped it yet ! Sorry but in my books that makes it junk
StarStarStarStarStar Front Cover is Crappy
User: Camille H, Jan 6, 2011
My first Otterbox cover didnt arrive with a protective screen (which I thought I saw in the picture/description but figured I misread the fine print) No worries, I made due. I had to order a replacement cover b/c the front cover snapped. My second one broke yesterday and Im leery to purchase another if they are going to keep breaking. Yes in my 11/26 review I said my goddaughter dropped it but she has low clearance to the floor and they were minor bumps. Last night I was doing a hard reboot and the cover kept slipping off. I just realized their is a small piece cracked. I dont expect it to be indestructible but I expect mor durability than this given all the hype Otterbox receives. Is there a warranty on this item/replacement parts so I dont have to purchase a THIRD Otterbox cover?

Slightly Peeved~
StarStarStarStarStar Not thrilled
User: Sabrina Bryant, Dec 14, 2010

Pros:  Protects the phone some what.
Cons:  Would like it designed like the iphones, top face plate does NOT stay on, after one drop from chair to floor 18", the back is already cracked.

Because it has the hard case on the outside instead of the inside, it slips all over the place in the car. The front part of the case that slides with the top of the phone does not stay on, I have had to super glue it to my phone. After the phone dropped one time from the arm of a chair to the floor about 18" it cracked the back of the Otter Box. It would had been better if the hard box was on the inside and the rubbery part on the outside. NO CLIP!! Come on!!! Why not? Why is there not a clear cover for the complete front of the phone like the iPhone?
StarStarStarStarStar Difficult phone to make a cover
User: Scott E., Dec 12, 2010
Purchased this and tried to put it on. The rubberized under piece fit well, but when I tried to put it into the plastic back it would not fit. Also the bezel for the top seemed to fit well, but not sure of the amount of protection it would give. For sliders (I also had a Palm Pre) like these you best protection is being careful. By design it is difficult for anyone to make a good cover for this type of phone.
StarStarStarStarStar Case has problems with unlock button
User: Derek Brozowski, Nov 23, 2010
I like this case a lot, but it really messes with the unlock button. My only explanation is that the case is too tight. Sometimes it works perfectly fine, but the phone will freeze every now and then. When this happens, the lock button is completely unresponsive when the case is on the phone.

was very satisfied with the fit and look of the case at first within ten minutes my keys locked up i couldent turn my phone off or anything (this happened several times) i thought i had a faulty phone and made plans to take it back but after removing the case the phones been working perfectly

StarStarStarStarStar Looks great, but falls short
User: Jen I., Oct 29, 2010
First day of release I walked out of the store with 2 new torches, a week later those torches had cases (had to wait for them to arrive at the store). The cases fit great, they look great, but from the first time I saw it I had a problem with out flimsy the top piece looks. Shortly after purchase, the first case (black - for differentiation), had the top part break when it fell out of a pocket onto a carpeted floor. One fall and it was done for? My case (pink) met its fate a couple days later when I answered my phone by opening it and the top piece flew off. So, answering the phone is dangerous to the cases health? I took both cases back to the store and they were easily exchanged for new ones. Again, the top part of this second case broke when it fell one time out of my purse. Will never buy another Otter, or suggest an Otter to anyone. To be fair, the back part (with the rubber padding) is solid and protects well. It is the top part that is flimsy and needs work.

StarStarStarStarStar Otter Case for BB Torch
User: Toni Spears , Oct 12, 2010
I have the black and pink case. Its cute, but kinda bulky. The case was $39, which I didnt mind the cost to protect my phone. The problem is after having it for only 9 days the front piece has come off many times. Im not happy with it at all. I wish Otterbox would come out with another design for the Torch. This one is going back to the store.

I will have to say that the back part is great.
StarStarStarStarStar top bezel eventually falls off
User: Jonathan Higa, Sep 10, 2010

Pros:  -
Cons:  top bezel not sturdy/expensive

I got an Otterbox for my Torch a couple weeks ago because people have been raving about them here. All the reviews say its the best case for a BB. Heres my experience. On the Otterbox for the Torch theres a thin top piece that clips onto the slider screen. After about a week that part started to become loose and occasionally pop off. And finally last night, I dropped my phone from about 3 onto the carpet. The ridge part that clips onto the screen some how chipped off. As a result this top piece does not clip onto the screen making the Otterbox for the Torch a $40 piece of useless plastic.

I cant imagine what would happen if I had dropped this phone on a hard surface. For $40 (from an AT&T store) I would think this case would be made sturdy enough to handle a 3 drop onto a soft surface.
StarStarStarStarStar Not as good as you think!
User: steve szymoniak, Sep 9, 2010

Pros:  Bottom case good protection
Cons:  Top case does not fit OR protects phone. Pops off. Bottom is slippery

Take a closer look at this case. I owned this case for three weeks. First, the bottom is made well and protects your phone. You may find the case is slippery.

What is the worst point of this case is the top case that fits on the slide portionof the Torch. You have a SMALL piece of plastic that is holding the top case to the phone. It constantly is popping off and it will NOT protect your phone if you drop it! PERIOD! My top case broke off a small piece of the plastic holding the top and is useless. Going to look at getting another top from another company.

Best recommendation is for you to still carry your phone in a holster carrier. Just with the Otterbox youre taking a big risk for a $499.00 phone. Had previous Otterbox before with Bold and they were good. This one for the Torch doesnt do the job!

Go back to the drawing board Otterbox!
StarStarStarStarStar Nice Looking case with a BIG flaw, it doesnt protect the phone if you drop it.
User: Andres Tinoco, Aug 26, 2010

Pros:  I like the look of the case, it offers great protection while the phone its in the case
Cons:  the case falls apart on the slightest impact, so your phone WILL get scratched if you drop it (just like mine just did)

This case has a nice look, and the materials are strong, I like the silicone and hard plastic mix, Ive owned several otterbox products and I thought they were the ultimate protection until this version.

the bad news are: They NEED to revise this case and find a way to have the top cover stay in place on impact, it falls apart too easy. the top part of the case WILL FALL APART if you drop it, its very loose, so otterbox its NOT the ultimate protection this time.. time to look for another case, If you are reading this and considering purchasing this case, dont waste your money unless you see proof that there has been a revision to this case.

I was also disappointed that the case didnt come with a screen protector, all my other otterbox cases came with one, so I was kinda expecting one since this is a touch screen phone.

I was a fan of otterbox, but this flaw its too big to ignore, how can they ship a product like this? this is a design flaw that should be evident on ANY quality test.

I guess all these 5 start ratings are from people that have not dropped their phone yet, since this phone just came out, they will feel like me when they do..
StarStarStarStarStar First OtterBox, but not impressed
User: Chris A, Aug 16, 2010

Pros:  Protection for expensive phone, available the first day
Cons:  Poor fit, seems to cause issues with the slide and locking the phone

Ive been around OtterBoxes for a while now. It seems every coworker has one for their insert version of iPhone here. I was fairly impressed at the level of protection offered. When I bought the case for my shiny new Torch, maybe my expectations were too high. The back of the case went on with no problem, although the silicone plugs dont seem to fit properly over the ports. The front trim ring around the screen..needs to go back to the drawing board. It doesnt fit well, and seems to come off easily. Ive had issues with putting the phone in a holder, and it seems as though it wakes right back up, killing my battery life. Before I added the case, I dont recall that problem. It would lock and stay locked. I dont know if the bulk of the case makes it easier for the slide to catch, moving a little bit and unlocking the phone or exactly whats happening.

StarStarStarStarStar awful
User: r r, Mar 27, 2012

Pros:  good case while it lasted
Cons:  poor quality

i dropped it about 6 inches off the ground, and the top cover broke, not once..but twice..awful case.
ALSO a little bit of dirt gets underneath the top cover or bottom cover, and your phone becomes absolutely scratched. DO NOT BUY
StarStarStarStarStar Completely UNsatisfied!
User: Angry Customer, Dec 8, 2011

Pros:  The back casing is great!
Cons:  The front casing is beyond terrible

Otterbox really needs to step up their game with this one.
I have owned 3 of these cases and each one of them have had the front part break within a few days of purchase.
I currently have one of the sets back casing still on my phone just so it is not completely unprotected.
As soon as I dropped my phone, from the couch onto a CARPETED floor, the faceplate casing broke. Literally snapped in half like it was nothing. Seriously? The company cant make the case better?
I will never waste my money on another Otterbox product again.
StarStarStarStarStar Too tight!
User: Teresa Mahle, Oct 22, 2011
The case was so tight that it kept muting/unmuting my phone. Not really helpful. I tried to bend the hard plastic back so it wasnt quite so snug, but after repeated attempts to make this case work I went back to my inexpensive Mobi plastic case.
StarStarStarStarStar WORST case EVER for this phone!!
User: Aaron Gangi, Oct 3, 2011
I just got this case to replace another one that I bought (Platinum). I had this case for less than a week before the faceplate broke off and that was that it was the SECOND one that I had because I had to have it replaced within the first HOUR I bought it due to the same issue. Seriously, do yourself a favor and dont get sucked into OtterBoxs solid reputation for this phone. I would recommend OtterBox for anybody who does NOT have a Blackberry Torch because they make a great product but this one sucks!!!!!
StarStarStarStarStar The OtterBox broke!
User: Randy Milliron, Sep 25, 2011

Pros:  Ease of use to replace battery
Cons:  Not very durable and broke easy

It is not like I dropped this case from 20..it fell out of my holster and CRACK! It first broke the flimsy little arm on top for the headphone jack. Then the 2nd drop cracked the back of the case. I wouldnt recommend you waste your money on this case if you think you are going to get DEFENDER like results. Im so glad they finally came out with a defender series because that is what Im buying right now.
StarStarStarStarStar Horrible fit
User: J B, Sep 13, 2011
I got the torch when it first came out and got all the bugs with it including the otter box. According to otter box I got a dud torch because apparently BB used two different molds with just slight size differences. Short story I ended up getting three warranty replacements in two months because, without dropping, my back cover cracked near the volume button and my front cover snap broke off. Same exact breakage on all three! Also if you arent careful the silicon will press on the buttons and lock your phone and cause it to crash.
StarStarStarStarStar Freezer Burn
User: Kathryn Drobny, Sep 2, 2011

Pros:  Protects Blackberry Torch
Cons:  Phone CONSTANTLY freezes

I cant stand my Otter Box for my Blackberry Torch. My phone constantly freezes in this thing. It does protect my phone, but I cant ever use it when its in the case. I have to take it out all the time. I would never have bought this had I known my phone would freeze all the time.
StarStarStarStarStar HAVING PROBLEMS.
User: Destine Naquin, Sep 1, 2011
I think the Otterbox is good to have to protect your phone. BUT, i put one on my torch and after 5 minutes my phone freezes and doesnt work until i take it off and take the battery out and repower.
StarStarStarStarStar Headphone Jack Allignment Issue
User: James Rainey, Aug 26, 2011

Pros:  Well made, nice fit, especially the face plate surround.
Cons:  Headphone jack opening not properly alligned with headphone jack.

Ive opened a ticket with OtterBox. I have a new 9810 and the Commuter Case opening for the headphone jack does not line up properly. Ive even gone by the AT&T store to ensure I have the proper case. They installed another case on a 9800 and 9810 and were surprised to see they didnt line up. OtterBox denied an issue, so well see.
StarStarStarStarStar causes torch to lock up
User: Suzy Smith, Aug 21, 2011

Pros:  smooth cover, good protection
Cons:  causes lock ups over and over.keys just freeze and screen locks

I would not reccomend this cover because of the repeated locking up and screen lock problems. When I need my phone. I need it NOW! This has been very distressing.
StarStarStarStarStar Otter Box Let Me Down
User: Sam Soverns, Aug 11, 2011

Pros:  Inside Cushion
Cons:  Front Cover With No Screen Protector

Very dissatisfied with Otterbox. Poorly designed case. I had to purchase screen protectors because there are none with the case. Whenever you drop the phone the front pops off and you have to chase it down. 1st day I dropped it the front cover popped off and my phone was scratched. OtterBox should have left this phone alone and not provided a case. I still think OtterBox has a great product however not for the Torch 9800. Very, Very disappointed.

Ive had two of these and broke the top piece on each of them within a month. Once I dropped my phone and I am not sure what happened the second time. THe little plastic clips break and it will not attach to the top/slide portion of the torch. Try something else
StarStarStarStarStar dont drop your phone
User: Julie Zielinski, Jul 21, 2011
I got my otter box for my torch for Christmas last year and since then I have had FIVE! I am a 32 year-old woman, not some young kid throwing my phone around either. Every time my phone drops the tiny little rim around the screen pops off and snaps the even tinier pieces of plastic holding it around the phone. I will say that it has been replaced free of charge every time - BUT having to do that five times in 6 and half months sucks.
StarStarStarStarStar Not Great
User: Brit J, Jun 17, 2011

Pros:  Hard Shell
Cons:  Pushing buttons

I really thought this was going to be a great purchase, sine i dropmy phone all the time. But after putting the case on i had some problems. It wont let you unlock the phone with the case on, it doesnt realize that your pusing the button- same with the camera buttn at the top. I tried multiple time to see if i could unlock the phone with the case on, but it just never worked. Its a great case if you never wwant to use your phone, but if your like me and want to be in control of your phone then this isnt the purchase for you.
StarStarStarStarStar cheaply made
User: mike peterson, Jun 13, 2011
As an owner of previous otterboxes I find the newest version for the torch, just cheap. I understand the slide feature on the phone creates problems. The rubber plugs that protect the usb and headphone jack dont even stay in. The plastic seems a lot thinner and extremely slippery. The only difference between the otterbox and the cheaper knockoffs is the rubber plugs. I wish the back plate was rubberized because every time I grab my phone I almost drop it. And also no holster?
StarStarStarStarStar Awesome back cover front SUCKS ASS
User: Jennifer Allen, May 31, 2011
I have had this case for only 3 weeks. I have never had a otterbox but have heard how great they are. This on SUCKS! My front cover is now super glued in 3 places and the back cover is chipped between the buttons. So needless to say I am buying a totally different case this time!

User: Dawn Mattos, May 11, 2011

Pros:  Love the way it protected the phone
Cons:  The rubber buttons didnt work around the phone and it would freeze the phone

I love the design of this case, it protects the phone very well. But when it was place on the phone by a technician the rubber buttons for the screen shut off, the volume and the camera did not work. then it would freeze up the keyboard and the phone itself. i had to take out the battery and reset it again and again. i tokk it back afer 24 hours.........
StarStarStarStarStar Not worth the money Failure for OtterBox
User: Sarah Dyer, Apr 26, 2011

Pros:  The back case works well
Cons:  Hard to put on after battery pull, front case breaks easily

This is a failure of OtterBox design in my opinion. The front case breaks WAY easy. It is ridiculous. I have bought two, the second one just broke, and both have sucked. I would not waste my money again. OtterBox needs to re-think the front cases design. I dropped my phone on my BED and it cracked the front case-plate. Total crap.

I have had 3 of these cases in the 4 months i have had my phone and every single one of them has broken! The cover that snaps on the front does not stay on well and over time breaks off! I am not satisfied with this product at all! I have known 4 other people that have had the same problem I did.
StarStarStarStarStar Not impressed at all
User: c baker, Jan 28, 2011
I had to cut the rubber that covers the buttons on top so it would stop locking up my phone. Also, the plastic is slippery so I feel like Im going to drop it. Really wished it worked properly. Its functional now that I remodeled it.
StarStarStarStarStar Save your money!
User: brent medcalf, Jan 27, 2011
I purchased this case only because of the otterbox name brand, I have seen these in the past and was impressed with what I saw. I thought they were over priced but probably worth the money. WellI should have just gone to WalMart and bought the cheapest piece of junk they had and would saved money and been more satisfied. The otterbox is about the same quality as the cheap knock offs with a piece of rubber in it, the main problem is that every time I put it on my phone it locks the phone up. Save your money!
StarStarStarStarStar Not happy with OtterBox this time..
User: Jo Pfeffer, Jan 26, 2011
OtterBox blew it this time. I upgraded from my BlackBerry Curve 8900, to a BlackBerry Torch 9800 last month. My Curve has been safely protected in an OtterBox since the day after I bought it, and has survived many a drop. Thinking I would have the same level of quality and protection for my new Torch, I purchased an OtterBox for it. I was sadly mistaken about OtterBox this time. The quality of the OtterBox for the Torch wasnt nearly the quality of the OtterBox that my Curve has been living in all this time, and I didnt feel that my 9800 was nearly as safe. And every time that I opened the slider on my 9800, the protector that surrounds the slider popped off -- and I was NOT happy about that. I cant recommend the OtterBox for the Torch 9800. I was totally dismayed about this, as I have trusted the OtterBox for my Curve 8900 for several years, and it has done an outstanding job. What a bummer to find out that the OtterBox cant protect my Torch 9800. :-(
StarStarStarStarStar Not worth the $40 I paid for it
User: R B, Jan 14, 2011

Pros:  very durable
Cons:  locks the torch when slider closes

I thought I had something wrong with my torch and was a step from sending back to AT&T, when I decided to try something after reading this forum and found how someone else had this same problem. The Torch "lock" when you close it if you have the OB commuter case on. I had the pink and black that I got from AT&T online when I ordered my phone I got the OB because my hubby has the iPhone and he LOVES that OB case! I thought it was a good investment for my phone since this was the first one I had bought myself in 2 years, and I LOVE BBs! So I put it on, no prob, take it to work. Using it during the day noted that the lock would NOT stay off! Even when I was handling the phone casually, it was locking, not just when the slider was closed after being opened. Got on chat w/ AT&T they said bring it back, then got to looking online and typed in "torch locking when slider closes" and low and behold! Someone complained about the exact same thing! I am going for a different case, probably the Seidio Innocase, it has nothing but 5 stars on its reviews. Wish I had looked at it before spending $40!! Dont waste the money, the OB may be great w/ ANY other phone, but with the Torch? Uh uh, no good.
StarStarStarStarStar Very disappointed
User: Nikki C, Jan 4, 2011

Pros:  The back casing is phenomenal
Cons:  The face plate is a piece of crap!

I was excited when I got my first Otterbox Commuter Series case for my Blackberry Torch. The face plate is absolutely garbage. It kept popping off and eventually it wouldnt stay on at all anymore. I thought this was a rare occurrence so I purchased another one. Not even 2 weeks after receiving it the same thing happened. I went to the Otterbox site to look into the matter and it turns out that Im not the only one having the same issue. Needless to say I will not buy another thing from Otterbox for this phone. Im looking at other cases right now as Im writing this review. I hope this was a little helpful. Oh and I did send Otterbox an email about the problem so Im waiting to hear from them.
StarStarStarStarStar Repeated problems
User: Chris Lebo, Dec 23, 2010

Pros:  provides protection
Cons:  poor quality

Although the Otterbox for Torch provides protection, the front cover isnt worthy of the Otterbox name. I am on my second one now - the small tabs break off and then the cover will not stay on. Otterbox does replace the covers but once I am out of warranty coverage I will purchase a Seidio.

I have owned Otterbox cases for the Curve and the Bold and never had these problems. Maybe this cover was rushed to market. All in all NOT worth the money.

Due to the slide function the case does not secure properly. A friend of mine purchased this same case with many of the same problems. 1. usb and headset plugs ALWAYS come undone. 2. When u pik ur phone up the top half tends to pop off consatntly. 3. Cracked the first time I dropped it. Paid 40 after taxes and such and it lasted @ weeks and it wouldnt even snap back on my phone
StarStarStarStarStar Very disappointed
User: Kerry Summers, Nov 18, 2010

Pros:  Nice, hard shell
Cons:  Face falls off, not durable

I bought the Commuter case for my Torch because Otterbox is a pretty reputable name. After dropping it the first time from about a foot off the ground, I quickly realized that the front face was not made to actually stick to the phone. Granted, it takes a tricky design to get the face to fit to the Torch, but it is DEFINITELY possible (and for over $32, it should perform better. I got tired of the front face coming off so I got superglue and glued it to the underside of the face. As ghetto as that sounds, it actually did work and everything was great..until..the other day I pulled the phone out of my pocket and the plastic band around the faceplate was BROKEN! I have only dropped the phone a couple times, but seriously, I paid $32 bucks for a HARD COVER! Very disappointed. Im having to go with something else now. Good luck, guys!
StarStarStarStarStar Didnt work for me
User: L M, Nov 12, 2010

Pros:  Nice looking,
Cons:  Locks up keys

I just bought this phone from AT&T and they recommened the Otterbox commuter Case. It looked really good on the phone but I noticed my phone was freezing and I had no idea why. I called AT&T and they told me to download the latest software so I did and it still didnt help. I then took my case off and my phone has not frozen since. I decided to test this theory I put my case back on and it froze. Therefore the conclusion I came to is that while looking nice and protecting my phone it causes it to freeze and not be able to turn off. I do not recommend this case.
StarStarStarStarStar thank goodness it has a lifetime warranty!
User: erica soto, Nov 2, 2010

Pros:  protects the main body securely and through everything
Cons:  the frame piece falls off with a good hit

I purchased one of these and felt a need that everyone should know whats happened to me since purchase. Mind you, ive purchased otterboxes for ALL of my previously owned blackberries and loved them. This one is an exception.

Thus far the top frame portion to the case has been replaced twice (through a limited warranty with AT&T) in less than a month.

Im not overtly rough with my bbs. Im a student and juggle quite a few things at the same time so its quite possible I could be carrying a dr. pepper, spiral notebook, a pen, and grab my phone when it falls.

It never breaks the frame portion of the commuter case in half but it has resulted in breakage of the top portion of the clip. On impact the frame portion of the case pops off everytime if its a hard surface and has resulted in several scratches on my phone.

FYI: If youve purchased this through AT&T and its a scratch that your nail falls into, your warranty is void. They will not replace the phone for warranty even if your speaker goes out, volume keys dont work, or a plethora of other reasons a device could be faulty.

So, now that this case has done this be aware that you could suffer from the same situation and that you risk quite a bit, a very expensive phone. This is fare warning to not put too much security in the otterbox name with this particular case, I did and it was a huge mistake. If youve purchased past devices carried through AT&T and bought otterbox to keep your phone secure, this isnt going to give you the same sort of durability.

StarStarStarStarStar Horrid Case - Epic FAIL Otterbox.
User: Marco Shakouri, Oct 30, 2010
see forum link for details on case discussion: http://forums.crackberry.com/f209/torch-otterbox-commuter-543970/

the case looks good - but its garbage.

ive even dropped the phone and had the top peice simply pop off on impact causing damage to the phone anyhow.

ive also found countless cases on here where it scratches the phone itself from only a week of use.

whats the point of a case that ruins a phones functionality, makes the screen loose and wobbly (if ur isnt yet it will happen), makes it harder to type, makes buttons useless, and most importantly doesnt protect the phone which is what its meant to do.

so in the end - im exchanging the torch. returning the crap otterbox.. and going oem holster untill something thats decent comes out.

those keeping the case i think are in denial because they spent $40+ on the damn case and dont want to admit to having a crap product.. i too was this person and dealt with the creeking and wobble - but dropping the phone and having the case damage the phone was enough for me.
StarStarStarStarStar fine unless you actually need protection for the phone..
User: richard hurtig, Oct 22, 2010
The case fits nice and looks nice but does not work! The bottom portion does not fit well and the top portion does not fit well. The case may actually do more harm than good. The top portion pops off. The space between the two parts is an opportunity for damage! Such a shame the phone was not designed more durable or the phone was not designed to better accommodate a case. A case should protect the phone from a drop so a pouch case is useless as you must take the phone out of the case. I am debating if no case at all is actually the better protection!
StarStarStarStarStar Too EXPENSIVE for WHAT IT DOESNT DO!!
User: Kathleen Zechmeister, Oct 17, 2010

Pros:  Bottom part fits fine
Cons:  -

The top part for the screen keeps coming off, the box keeps unlocking my phone & drains the battery. Sorry I bought such an expensive "protector" but I wanted to keep this expensive phone from breaking. Have dropped the phone several times because it is so slick & the top comes off every time- difficult to keep it on. I think I will try the Mobi since it has a better rating. What a disappointment from OtterBox, a good company. This one needs to be "tweaked a bit more to get a better rating from me.

I bought the OtterBox for my Torch and within 2 weeks it broke. The bottom portion fits VERY snug around the phone. The top piece that goes on the screen just pops on. I couldnt keep this half on the phone to save my life.
StarStarStarStarStar Screen would not unlock with case on

I had issues with the case being too tight along the top and keeping my phone on lock. Freezing the screen and then having to take the case off to unlock the phone.
StarStarStarStarStar Doesnt hold true to OtterBox standards

Pros:  Potentially a device saver
Cons:  Doesnt fit

I was thrilled to see that OtterBox put this case together. I love my new torch and needed a case to protect it.

This is a two piece case. While the main body of the case that wraps around the main body of the phone does fit nicely, the silicone plugs do not stay in the holes in which they protect and constantly pop out.

The main disappointment is the screen frame/bezel piece. It appears to be a snug solid fit, but if you put it in your pocket, put the phone down upside down on the screen or even drop it from 1", the bezel pops off. It almost seems like you would have to glue it to make it stay on.

Would be interested in knowing if anyone else has this problem.
